W. Cary Perkins
Cary Perkins is the owner of Bluegrass Consulting Forestry in
Shelbyville, Kentucky and has used his forestry degree from Virginia Tech to
practice forestry in Kentucky for over 42 years. He is also a graduate wildlife biologist with 120
whitetail deer on his hunting resume' harvested over three states.
As part of his forestry career, Cary served 21 years as Kentucky’s Chief of Forest Management on the Kentucky Division of Forestry’s staff in Frankfort. Cary is not only an avid hunter and fisherman but also enjoys writing about his hunting and fishing adventures. The story of his 2013 Kentucky buck is included below as well as some of his photographs. The pictures begin with his favorite place of Alaska, followed by photos taken during other assorted adventures. The last three are pictures he took serving on the overhead teams charged with suppressing large forest fires in the western United States.
